Feinstein slips up during interview! **Video**

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) helped to derail, at least momentarily, the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court after she revealed allegations of sexual assault from Kavanaugh’s past. Now, she’s not certain the allegations are valid.

The senator received a letter from a woman who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by Judge Kavanaugh while the two were in high school.

Sen. Feinstein held onto the letter and revealed it after Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings had ended. She did not raise the question at any time during the hearing.

After Sen. Feinstein released the vague accusation, the woman, Christine Blasey Ford, came forward and described the allegations in detail to the Washington Post.

Judge Kavanaugh quickly denied the allegations and agreed to attend another public hearing to respond to questions regarding the incident. So far, the Trump administration and many Republicans have strongly defended Judge Kavanaugh.

On the Democrat side, many have stated that they believe Ford and demanded Republicans delay the confirmation vote for Judge Kavanaugh until he answers their questions or an FBI investigation can be completed.

Now, however, it seems as though Sen. Feinstein if trying to distance herself from the accusations. While discussing the issue with the press, the senator admitted that she wasn’t sure that “everything” included in the allegations was “truthful.”

“I have no say,” said Sen. Feinstein. “I’m the lead Democrat so [Kavanaugh’s future] is all up to the Republican side. I can’t say everything is truthful. I don’t know.”

It certainly looks as though Sen. Feinstein would like to distance herself from the accusations, despite bringing Ford’s allegations to the Senate (and likely leakingthem to the press).

Judge Kavanaugh has agreed to attend another public hearing on Monday. So far, Ford has not stated whether she will attend a hearing to testify against Judge Kavanaugh.
